Design Ideas: Glass Partitions

Glass partitions or walls can provide a sense of individual spaces within a large open loft-type home. In addition to minimizing noise travelling from room to room, glass can also add a touch elegance with a modern twist to any décor.

Design Ideas: The Little Black Armoire

I have a tired, old armoire that is in desperate need of an upgrade. I’m leaning towards painting it matte black to give it a hip and edgy look and hide all its chips and nicks.

Some of the paint colours by Farrow & Ball I want to test include: Off Black No. 57, Pitch Black No. 256; and Railings No. 31.

Here are a few inspiring examples of beautiful black armoires:

Design Ideas: The Power of Numbers

Whether arranged on a fireplace mantel, hung on the wall, or displayed on a shelf, collections of objects are a great way to add personality and interest to any room. Collections not only communicate individual passions and pursuits, but also create a unique and distinctive decorative statement that will likely surprise any visitor to your home.

Here are several inspiring examples:

6 Favourites: Glass Pendant Lights

Lately, I’ve been obsessing about finding the perfect pair of glass pendant lights to hang over my futur kitchen island. I’m particularly fond of tinted glass pendants as they add warmth and a modern touch to a room.

Here are my top 6 favourites:

Above: These hot blown glass pendant lights were featured in this previous post about the Wiesergut Design Hotel. They are from the German design label Isabel Hamm Licht and are made to order in a selection of three shapes and colours.

Above: At 299$, the affordable Hennepin Banded Pendant Light can be purchased through Room & Board.

Above: The Stamen Glass Pendant Lights are available in different colours  at Niche Modern for 1,195$.

Above: Israeli artist Dan Yassef created the Shadow pendants as an homage to the classic atelier lights.

Above: This Japanese hand-blown glass light can be purchased through Analogue Life for 269$.

Above: The Unika Pendant Light is available in clear or grey glass for 281$ at Nest.
